About Melville

Melville Housing is a charitable organisation supporting local communities by providing and developing high quality affordable homes and housing related services.

We were formed in October 1995 by a group of Midlothian tenants and staff from the Dalkeith area office of Scottish Homes. 

At present we own and manage more than 1700 properties across Midlothian, South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire, East Lothian and Edinburgh. We are registered with, and regulated by, the Scottish Government and are committed to serving the housing needs of the people in our areas of operation.

We are governed by a voluntary Management Committee of 15 members made up of tenants and business people with experience in all walks of life, who live and/or work in the areas which we serve. Our Management Committee delegates the day to day running of the Association to a highly professional team of 35 staff.

We have achieved the prestigious Investors in People standard and the Positive about Disability Symbol. Both quality marks are proudly displayed on our stationery, information leaflets and in the office.

We have an ongoing development programme and also participate in the Scottish Government's Mortgage to Rent scheme, providing help to home owners who are in danger of losing their homes.
