Interested in Joining Our Board?

  • Do you want to make a difference to people’s lives?
  • Do you have time to give as a voluntary Board member to help shape the future of Melville Housing Association?

Melville Housing Association is a leading provider of high-quality housing and housing-related services in central and east Scotland. We own and manage more than 2,000 homes, have an annual turnover of more than £8m and are a registered Scottish charity as well as being a Registered Social Landlord with the Scottish Housing Regulator.

Melville is led by an experienced Board that has overall responsibility for its governance and strategic direction. As a Board member you will work closely with the senior management team on the planning, monitoring and control of high quality, efficient services to our tenants and service users.

To build on our current strengths and help with the delivery of our services, we are recruiting new members who have the interest, skills and commitment to help Melville achieve its aims and objectives. We are particularly keen to hear from:

  • People with IT/digital skills
  • People with legal knowledge/skills
  • Anyone with knowledge of housing development
  • Young people
  • Social housing tenants

We are committed to equality and diversity and welcome approaches from all sections of the community.

What can we offer?

This is a voluntary, unpaid position but Board members can claim travel and other expenses for attending meetings.  We also offer Board members a training programme and encourage them to develop their knowledge and skills by attending seminars and conferences on behalf of Melville.

Your commitment

You will need to commit to attending up to eight Board meetings a year held in Dalkeith, Midlothian. These meetings are usually held in the early evening and normally last a maximum of two hours. In addition, you will be expected to take part in skills development and training provided by the Association to support you in your role as a Board member.
