COVID-19 Community Support

Each area listed below has services set up to help people with shopping, collecting and delivering medication, dog walking and other support.  Links, often to Facebook pages, will provide more information and phone numbers, where available, are also included.

Mayfield and Easthouses The Mayfield and Easthouses Resilience Group has been set up by the Community Council.  They can also deliver hot meals and assist with food bank referrals.
The Bonnyrigg Emergency Response Team has been set up for residents in the Bonnyrigg area.
Penicuik The Penicuik Ambassadors for Penicuik residents.
Loanhead The Loanhead and District Community Council have set up services in the area.
Pathhead Contact the Tynewater Mutual Aid Network.
Gorebridge The Gorebridge Resilience Group has been set up by the Gorebridge Community Cares and many other partners in the Gorebridge area. 
South Lanarkshire For our residents in Forth, South Lanarkshire Council has set up a Community Wellbeing Telephone Line to connect people with local volunteers for help during the pandemic. 03031231009

Addiction Services

Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous is a support group set up to help people recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.  0800 9177650
ELCA ELCA (Edinburgh and Lothian Council on Alcohol) offers free advice, information and support around alcohol and helps anyone worried about their own or someone else’s drinking. 0131 3378188
Forward Forward supports people in recovery from addiction and ex-offenders to reconnect with family members and friends and to build and maintain healthy relationships. Services include advice, information and signposting, support groups or individual counselling.  0203 9815533
MELD MELD (Mid and East Lothian Drugs) provides locally accessible, confidential and non-judgemental substance misuse services across Mid and East Lothian. They promote recovery and reduce substance misuse-related harm to individuals, families and the wider community. 0131 4464833 01312859553 
Narcotics Anonymous  Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Made up of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean, it is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. Advocacy Services

CAPS CAPS is an independent advocacy organisation for people who use or have used mental health services. Providing individual and collective advocacy in East Lothian and Midlothian, they also host several experience-led projects across Lothian. 01312735118

EARS EARS (Edinburgh Advocacy & Representation Service) is an independent advocacy service standing up for the rights of people in Edinburgh and the Lothians.  01314788866
Partners in Advocacy Partners in Advocacy provide independent advocacy for individuals living with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities and people over 65. They also provide advocacy to children and young people who are living with mental health issues, additional support needs and learning disabilities. 01314787723

Midlothian Voluntary Action Midlothian Voluntary Action (MVA) exists to support and develop community and third sector organisations in Midlothian and encourage powerful partnership working. 01316639471

Children 1st  Children 1st bills itself as Scotland's national children's charity,  set up to prevent abuse and neglect, to protect children and keep them safe from harm. 08000282233

Alzheimer Scotland Alzheimer Scotland has 21 resource centres across Scotland providing a safe and friendly environment for people with dementia and their carers to visit and take part in a wide variety of activity groups.

Lothian DLC Lothian Disabled Living Centre (DLC) provides free and impartial information and advice about equipment that can help people who  struggle with daily living due to age, disability or illness. A referral isn't needed but visits are strictly by appointment only. 01315379190
Momentum Momentum provides rehabilitation, training, employability and care services for disabled and socially excluded people throughout the UK. RNIB RNIB Scotland (Royal National Institute of Blind People) works on behalf of people in Scotland with sight loss, delivering services for members and campaigning for their civil and welfare rights.
