Dalkeith Corn Exchange

Corn ExchangeThe Dalkeith Corn Exchange, home to Melville Housing Association, is a prominent Grade A listed building in Dalkeith. Once one of Scotland’s largest and busiest Corn Exchanges it has a fascinating local history, and remains one of Midlothian's most important historic buildings.

Vacant for several years, and experiencing some deterioration, the building was in desperate need of repair when Melville stepped in to rescue it. Following a two year restoration project, made possible thanks to grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Environment Scotland, the building reopened in 2016.

The reception area of Melville’s new office is open to the public during office hours. The boardroom, as well as a smaller meeting room, are both also available for community meetings and events. Contact us for more information.

The Corn Exchange is also home to a new permanent museum for Dalkeith, managed by the Dalkeith History Society. The museum has its own St Andrew Street entrance and is fully accessible to the public.
