Update on Services

We’ve now moved into the third phase of the Scottish Government’s transition out of lockdown. You can find out how this is likely to affect social housing tenants in Scotland by reading a letter from Kevin Stewart, Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning.

Over the next couple of weeks we intend to restart our full repairs service, delivered by Novus, with all necessary health and safety measures in place. You can also now report repairs through our website once again, however please be patient. Novus have a backlog to work through so newly reported repairs may take a bit longer than normal.

We will also shortly be resuming some internal planned maintenance work, starting with kitchen replacements. If you’re due a new kitchen our contractor will be in touch to explain the strict health and safety measures they’ll be taking, however if you’re not comfortable letting workmen into your home then please let us know and we’ll reschedule the work for a later date.

Our property team can also now carry out internal inspections, subject to strict safety measures. This means we can now resume mutual exchanges.

Please respect social distancing guidelines if you have a member of Melville staff, or one of our contractors, in your home and when you arrange an appointment (with a member of Melville staff or with any of our contractors) you must let us know if you are vulnerable, shielding, self-isolating, or if you have any symptoms of the virus, so that all necessary precautions can be taken.

Melville’s office at the Dalkeith Corn Exchange will continue to remain closed until further notice.

Watch this space for news on more services restarting in the coming weeks, and please make sure we have your up to date contact details so that we can get in touch if we need to.
